The Seffer Jetsira – a scientifick manual of the rabbins – lists four Elements, (Water, Fire, Air, & Earth), to which do four Planets correspond – those are: Moon (water), Mars (fire), Sun (air), & Saturn (earth).

From a systematic perspective, we’d understand the Planet of Saturn as corresponding to the element of Earth, & to the wind of North – i.e., the divine principle or quality of rigour, or, “alchymically”: the quality of astringency, or dryness.

Jacob Behmen, (following the Cabalists), had understood the Planet of Saturn as typifying the bodily, – coarse, “base” – principle of “thing-liness” – of existence & “concrescence”.

The wind of North typifies “the body of the whole world”, in its existence & projectedness – in its physical manifestness.

The Saturnine quality represents & typifies the “coarse”, or “gross”, principle – what could be (in the Mineral world) the Sal, “Salt”, of the Earth, which has to be perfected & made for the divine Nature to become fully express.

The aforementioned 4 Planets (Moon, Mars, Sun & Saturn) do correspond to the four Banners of Israel – with Dan, the (Gen. 49:17) “Serpent”, to the North (Num. 2:25), relating to Saturn.

It is understood that these four do correspond to the 2 Arms & 2 Thighs of Jacob – the right arm (Reuben), the left arm (Judah), the right thigh (Ephraim), & the left thigh (Dan). It is the left thigh – Dan, – upon whom was Jacob “halting” (Gen. 32:31).

It is by the tikkunn, the “preparation” & establishment of the left thigh – of the crooked Dan – that the body of all things is completed. That is the tikkunn of Saturn.
