Jan. 13th, 2025: Chymical Trinities in the Bible
We understand the Syzygy/Trinity constituting the divine intellect via our perception of natural mechanisms. Those are Chymical processes, which are universally reducible to the complementations of Mercury (qualified with Moisture) and Sulfur (qualified with Warmth), in producing the unique Sal, the philosophical Salt of the Alchymists. In the Holy Canticle, those seminal minerals are understood as “Scents” or “winds”. The verse goes (Sng. 4:16): “Awake, O North Wind; & come, thou South, blow upon my Garden” that is, reducible to three elementary qualities: the “North”, the “South” and the “Garden”; those are the judging Sulfur of the North, the inspiring Mercury of the South, and the Salt, which is definitely the consummate Garden of all matter. The originary “symbols”—kernels—of the Bible’s Chymical Trinity are the Three Patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Abraham—who is typified with the attribute of Hospitality (see Gen. 18)—represents the “charitable” influence of the Mercurial moisture. Isaac, in his part, is divinely attributed the “Fear” of God (ibid. 31:42), and represents the harshness of the warm Sulfur; and Jacob, who is accredited with a truthfulness, express in simple Plainness (ibid. 25:27), surely does represent the firmness of a philosophical Salt. The principle of Mercury is signified by the divine Wisdom, by which “The Lord [...] hath founded the Earth” (Prv. 3:19)—and is assigned the elements of earth and water, which represent the principle of descension and materiality. All the while, the principle of Sulfur is signified with the divine Understanding, by which “...hath he established the Heavens” (ibid. 3:19), assigned the elements of fire and air, & carries-forth the operations of ascension and formation. |
